1919 The company is founded by Richard Walter in Düsseldorf under the name of Metallurgische Gesellschaft Richard Walter & Co
1925 A small business in Tübingen, Germany is acquired
1928 First patent application for carbide
1967 The first subsidiary is founded in Vienna, Austria
1989 Tool data management software is launched
2001 Tiger·tec®®, the world's first series-produced two-colour carbide indexable insert, is introduced to the market
2007 A new plant for indexable inserts with a production area of 15,000 m2 is opened in Münsingen, Germany
Merger with Titex in Frankfurt, Germany and Prototyp in Zell am Harmersbach
2010 Walter Multiply, a tailored service concept that runs through the entire process chain, is brought onto the market
Walter acquires the American brand Valenite
2016 The Walter Technology Center is opened at the Headquarters in Germany
2017 Walter becomes owner of the software company Comara located in St. Georgen,  Black Forest, Germany
