The primary objective when manufacturing Vignole or transition profiles and points is always ensuring a long service life. At the same time, rails and points are exposed to heavy loads on a daily basis. With tensile strengths of between 700 and 1600 N/mm2, the rail steel used presents a real challenge for machining. The requirement here is for tough tools which can be used flexibly in a very wide range of conditions. The powerful Walter milling tools are ideal in such circumstances.
