In the production of flat rails, transition profiles and points, two things are of primary importance: the utmost reliability and a long service life. Rails and points are subjected to high mechanical and thermal stresses on a daily basis. With tensile strengths of between
700 and 1600 N/mm², the material used (rail steel) presents a real challenge for machining.
