In the production of flat rails, transition profiles and points, two things are of primary importance: The utmost reliability and a long service life. Rails and points are subjected to high mechanical and thermal stresses on a daily basis. With tensile strengths of between
700 and 1600 N/mm², the material used (rail steel) presents a real challenge for machining.
The requirement here is for tough, high-performance tools which can be used flexibly in a very wide range of conditions. The powerful Walter milling cutters are ideal in such circumstances. They are available for all current rail profiles and elevations and provide a very high degree of process reliability and productivity, whatever type of material is used.
